2009: Project WIPS-to-FOs
Spring cleaning is underway early this year here in the Philistine crafting household! Having taken stock of my vast numbers unfinished knitting projects, I have decided to dedicate the entire year of 2009 to finishing as many WIPs as I possibly can without beginning any new projects. This is going to take some extreme dedication on my part, as there are many, many new patterns + yarns out there that are siren-singing my name. That is not to say that I won’t start *any* new projects this year–claiming that entirely would be an impossibility–I can start new projects, but I have to commit to finishing those new projects this year and can’t let new WIPs languish.
And so Project WIPs-to-FOs commences! But first things first, I have been trying to get an accurate count on just how many WIPs I have that need finishing . . . and yes. The “have been trying” should be a clear indicator to you all just how dire the situation is. Just when I think I have them all accounted for, I find another something-or-other that I have totally forgotten about. Eeek!
According to my Ravelry projects page, I currently have 45 (!!!!) WIPs. But, oh dear friends, if only that were everything I actually needed to finish. I’m afraid there is more . . .
But I am nonetheless ready to get cleaning out the ol’ Rav closet and get some FOs brewin’ for 2009! So happy belated New Year, everyone, and get ready to see those FOs go marching across your screen! And hopefully Project WIPs-to-FOs will encourage me to blog more frequently in the coming months, as well!

You are a very brave and dedicated woman. Just the thought of the task of counting WIPs is sending shivers down my spine

Just wondering: are you counting single socks as WIPs?
You seem very good humored about it all. My WIPs make me insane and even anxious (?) at times. I applaud your resolve and hope to finish some projects myself this year…

Good luck! At least you have many gorgeous projects to work on. BTW, I can’t handle counting up my hibernating WIPs right now. *burying head in sand*

I’m so glad I’m not the only one with a long wip list!

I truly believe you will accomplish this year’s goal!! Have you ever thought that by the end of the year you’ll have 45 brand new knitted items?! That is amazing!!!
By the way, love the yarn you’re using for the turqoise cables! ;o)!

What is that gorgeous turquoise sock yarn? Please tell me so I can buy some. Good luck with all the WIPs! I can’t wait to see them all.

That is a feat indeed! But it is a valiant effort. Good luck!

i never have too many WIP’s on the go…so i am in awe of your 45! but what really impresses me is the number of sets of needles that you must own!

Wow - the three you posted are so beautiful I’m surprised you could let them languish! YOur’e going to have so much fun picking up these projects and being reminded why you loved them to begin with.
I am feeling much better about my WIP and UFO list, knowing you have so many. Thanks! You make my 10 or so look positively modest. And I’m inspired to knit (and sew) through them too.
Now, my stash is another story…

Wow! 45!!! I can’t even imagine…good luck! Just think of all the lovely things you’ll have at the end of the year!

What pattern are you using for your cabled socks? I absolutely love them!!!

Wow, I’m twitchy with only 6 WIPs in Ravelry. And one of those is actually done, just not a FO b/c it still needs a photo. You’ve got your work cut out for you!
30 January 2009 at 12:31 pm
I start to twitch with more than 5 projects too. So I admire someone able to have that much going on. Good luck with the finishing!

you have so many great projects to finish! i hope that you can keep it up and going through 2009
31 January 2009 at 12:25 pm
Oh, wow 45? Of course, the only reason my WIP list is pretty short right now is because I’ve declared a bunch of projects to be hibernating, most likely to be ripped. Good luck with all of the finishing!
